Wayward Sailor

Sail "Wayward Sailor"

Capt. Phil

With over 30 years of sailing experience in Caribbean waters, Captain Phil Chalker offers visitors to our islands an uncommon yacht charter experience. A 100-ton USCG licensed captain for over 27 years, Captain Phil combines his knowledge of the sea and marinelife with his genuine concern for his passengers enjoyment to provide his guests with a charter full of memories to last a lifetime.

Captain Phil's knowledge of our reefs and varied marinelife was gained from years of running diving charters in the Bahamas and as the captain of St. John's Glassbottom Boat, "Calypso Queen", where he narrated the tours of our beautiful reefs. A patient snorkeling instructor with a willingness to go "the extra mile", Captain Phil enjoys his work and takes great pleasure in introducing children and beginning snorkelers to the wonders of the reef. Guests enjoy seeing, and identifying, the reef fishes and corals with Captain Phil as their snorkel guide.

A Great Experience for the Youngsters Enjoying a Day at Sea

Here's a partial list of what "Wayward Sailor" offers...

Full Day Sails
Our full day sail includes stops at two beautiful "out of the way" snorkeling reefs on uninhabited cays. After the morning snorkel, a lunch consisting of hot, toasted seafood sandwiches, salad, fruit, and chips is served aboard the vessel. Then, after a leisurely sail, it's back in the water for the afternoon snorkel stop. Following the afternoon snorkeling adventure, you make the short sail to the home port of Cruz Bay on St. John, arriving in time to relax or make "happy hour" at your favorite sundowner.

Half Day Sails
For those passengers that have a limited amount of time to spend sailing, "Wayward Sailor" offers an abbreviated version of our full day sail. Our half day adventures include a sail and a snorkeling stop at one reef. After the snorkeling, the vessel makes the short sail back to port. A snack of cheese and crackers, along with refreshments, is served on your sail home.

Sunset Sails
What could be more relaxing than an evening cruise? Enjoy the awesome views of the tropical sun falling into the purple sea amidst clouds of red and orange highlighting the western sky. Of course, champagne and hors d' oeuvres are served on this totally "stressless" sail!

Sunset Sails

Jost Van Dyke (BVI) Sails
Sail to a foreign country and return in a single day! Not only is it possible to do from St. John, it's one of the favorite pastimes of our "locals". This great adventure begins with a stop at a beautiful reef for snorkeling before your 1-1/2 hour sail to Jost Van Dyke in the British Virgin Islands. An island of only 250 resident's, Jost is probably most famous for its laid-back hospitality and charm. You'll have plenty of time to visit "Foxy's" (home of one of the world's Top Ten New Year's parties) in Great Harbour. You'll also want to take part in our popular "nature walk" which will inform you of the local fruits, exotic plants, and folklore.  Lunch is on your own. Light Caribbean snack on the return portion of the sail. This is one fun trip!

Please note that all BVI Customs fees for vessel and guests are the responsibility of the chartering party. Guests are required to provide Passports.  Each guest is also responsible for $20 British Virgin Island Customs and Immigration Fee. On BVI and US Holidays, an overtime charge of $25 is shared by the guests. Please be advised that clearing US Customs and Immigration from the BVI is required (15-30 minute normal processing time).  Cancellation of all trips must be made at least 24 hours before the scheduled charters.  Cancellations inside of 24 hours will result in forfeiture of 100% of the cost of the charter.
